About Bilsthorpe Scout Group
1st Bilsthorpe Scout Group is one of around 14 Scout groups in the District of Mansfield in Nottinghamshire. We are part of The Scout Association which has been established for over one hundred years. The group is divided up into three sections, each focusing on a different age group. Each section meets once a week as well as doing weekend activities and camps or sleepovers.
You can find out more about the individual sections by visiting the ‘Sections’ page.
Our scout group love’s to get out and about doing many different adventures like absailing, archery, Hiking, kyaking, rock climbing, sailing as well many more activities such as traditional scouting activities.
As well as a variety of sports, younger members of the group especially will find themselves playing games, cooking, doing arts and crafts and more! We also enjoy doing weekend activities and going away on camps and sleepovers.
We aim to deliver an exciting, fun and educational programme that will enrich the lives of all the young people in the group and enable them to reach their potential in a safe and secure environment.
1st Bilsthorpe is run by a dedicated team of hard working, volunteers. Headed by our Group Scout Leader Graham Baguley, all of our leaders, in their own time, are committed to providing the skills and the experience required to provide the varied programme of activities we offer.
We are backed up by an executive committee, some of whom are also section leaders that give up their time in order to organise and provide the necessary buildings and equipment so that the leaders can carry out the activities within the group. They help by organising fundraising events such as the range of social events that we organise throughout the year and making sure the section leaders have all the resources they require.
You can find out more about the upcoming events they have organised for the group on our upcoming events page
Of course none of this can be provided without the huge support we receive from the young people and their parents of 1st Bilsthorpe for which we are extremely grateful. We are always looking for more support in the form of adult helpers, and if you are willing and able to spare a couple of hours per week or what you can in order to help out then we would love to hear from you. Just send us a message on the contact page and we will get back to you.
